Camp MOE and its predecessors have been providing access to summer camp activities for children with and without disabilities in an integrated setting since 1978. Based in Torrington, CT their mission is to provide an ideal outdoor recreation environment where all campers have the opportunity to develop friendships, leadership skills, and responsibility for self and respect for others.
Camp MOE empowers campers to look beyond their abilities and the abilities of others while supporting them to grow mentally, physically, and socially in a safe inclusive environment. Camp staff are deeply involved in creating a community where awareness and acceptance are the norm. Meeting them all today, it is clear they embody the Wingman qualities and beliefs.
The camp is named in honor of Emil “Moe” Renzullo, a very special 12-year old boy who passed away April, 2010. Moe's love of Camp, whether it was swimming, skateboarding, leading the camp in the morning cheer, or just walking hand in hand with his counselor was evident to all involved at the Camp. Moe's enthusiasm, love and caring ways for others taught everyone whose life he touched so much as do all our campers.
Dylan’s Wings of Change has provided a grant to help some families facing financial hardship to access the camp experience for their children. The grant will fund additional dedicated support staff for children with autism and other special needs. We commit to grow this grant over the years to help as many families as possible, removing a barrier to activities that many typically developing children can take for granted.
