Students at Brownstone Intermediate School in Portland, CT made up for the lack of snow so far this month with some creativity and energy in their classrooms today.
The children made paper snowballs with their name written inside, enjoyed a quick snowball contest which thoroughly mixed up the names, then everyone grabbed a random snowball at the end.
Taking a separate sheet, students designed and created a snowflake. Each child discovered the name written on the snowball they had picked up and added compliments about their classmate. This could be done anonymously if they wanted to. The snowflakes now hang in the classroom as a reminder that each and every one of us is as unique as nature's prettiest creations, and that kind words are powerful.
